Education Programs
ESC volunteers who work within the
three components of our Education Program serve individuals by being
teacher, role model, adult friend, mentor, and counselor. Education Programs include:
1.
The
Mentor Program, through which ESC
volunteers provide guidance to young people, initially in a group setting
and then one-on-one, with the purpose of encouraging largely disadvantaged
youth to continue their education.
2.
The
Job Preparation Workshop Program,
consisting of workshops and practice job interviews that assist
individuals who will be immediately entering the work force after graduation
or assisting those individuals who are returning to the workforce after a
hiatus, or maybe even assisting someone who is getting a job for the first
time.
3.
The
Science Comes Alive! Program,
bringing hands-on methods of learning and exploring science into schools,
and assisting schools and students with science fairs. We have
developed a Science Resource Manual for teachers!
One of the primary goals is to
minimize the negative effects of the environments in which young people and
many adults today may find themselves, and to encourage them to succeed in
school, at work, and in life.

ESC's Education Programs give area youth and adults access to
individuals with diverse backgrounds; those who know the road to
achievement because they've been there; those who care; and those who have
the commitment to give back to the community.
These programs are available to elementary, middle, and high school students
and to other education-related organizations. Our intergenerational approach
also encourages the preservation of past values and traditions, opening the
lines of communication with the leaders of tomorrow.
Since 1984, our Education Programs have touched nearly 80,000 young
lives for the better!
